Theatre of Dreams
Choreography & Music: Hofesh Shechter
Lighting Design: Tom Visser
Costume Design: Osnat Kelner
Hofesh Shechter’s new full-length evening will take audiences on a wild headfirst dive into the theatre of dreams.
Performed by the inimitable dancers of Hofesh Shechter Company, this thrilling new work will delve deep into the world of fantasy and the subconscious, revealing fears, hopes, desires and a myriad of emotions that penetrates not only our dreams but also our waking thoughts – the mind is king.
The dancers’ bodies will bring to life on stage this interplay between poetry and reality, accompanied by a small band of musicians playing live to the backdrop of Shechter’s trademark cinematic sound-score. Hofesh will reunite with lighting designer, Tom Visser and costume designer, Osnat Kelner to create a powerful, sculptured setting to this dreamscape.

"a profound sensory onslaught that shakes you, drains you, and yet, somehow, leaves you craving more" ***** Ke Meng, Theatre Weekly
“...this hedonistic paradise where there are always more curtains, always more music, always more life.” ****½ Richard Maguire, The Reviews Hub
“It’s astonishingly beautiful, constantly inventive [...] a sense of discovery, of the capacity of the human spirit to revive, to fantasise and to dance.”
**** Sarah Crompton, The Observer
“Tom Visser’s gloriously dusty lighting appears so thick you can almost taste it, dunking the stage in hazy crimson and amber.”
David Jays, Evening Standard
“Hofesh Schechter Company’s Theatre of Dreams is a fascinating demonstration of how dance can affect you as deeply as any other visual, dramatic or performance piece.”
**** Wendy Fisher, Everything Theatre
"This is one of the most unique dance shows I have ever seen. With all the changeable elements, it will be a fresh experience every night, regardless of whether you’ve seen it before [...] If you enjoy transcendent, joyful performances that make you laugh and gasp in sheer wonder and excitement whilst exploring the psyche itself through dance then I recommend this show for you."

"The use of multiple stage curtains throughout both closing and opening on the dancers and revealing and concealing the differing parts of the stage feels akin to travelling through the different stages of unconsciousness and walking along the hidden paths to dreamland."

"The dance dazzles, defined by razor-sharp gestures, a contagious energy and the irresistible beauty which characterises Shechter’s work."
Ariane Bavelier, Le Figaro
'A symbiosis of hip-hop, folk dance and nightclub vibes… Poetic and joyful, this Theatre of Dreams surprises from start to finish, and above all is full of emotion and energy! Invigorating’
