OPEN CALL for video submissions to join Hofesh Shechter Company’s award-winning development programme.
NewsShechter II returns in 2024
Hofesh Shechter Company announced our global search for the next generation of world class contemporary dancers aged 18-25, to be part of the award-winning company Shechter II. Applications for the 2024 cohort opened in May receiving over 1200 video submissions from across the world.
Launched in 2018, Shechter II is the critically acclaimed young company of choreographer Hofesh Shechter (OBE), providing emerging young dancers with a paid opportunity (LLW) to train and develop as individual artists by working closely with a world-renowned choreographer and dance company.
Shechter II’s 12-month Development Programme includes a six-week creation process, a UK and international mid-scale sustainable tour, with community and outreach delivery.
Alongside this, the company is delighted to announce a new professional development offer – Jerwood SII – funded by the Jerwood Developing Artists Fund. This will provide a rolling programme of discovery including studio time with another choreographer; a fund for dancers to explore specific research ideas; dedicated time with a dance scientist; teaching skills development; and self-promotion and preparation for the transition to a professional career.
“Shechter II was a very special opportunity for me filled with joy, growth and challenge in which I learnt trust and acceptance. One of the most enriching things about this year was working with so many different people – with lots of dancers in the main company, as well as Bruno and Hofesh. We all grew together – performing, rehearsing, learning to the best of our capabilities. Our time in Shechter II was not only focused on embodying Hofesh’s work, but also in developing as dancers, and importantly as humans as well’ Adam Khazhmuradov, Shechter II 2018, and a dancer in Hofesh Shechter Company since 2019.
